Geocaching
Manitoba Canada
"Geocaching" is a sport that is growing in popularity. The goal is to find caches hidden by other geocachers using latitude and longitude coordinates, which are posted on a Web site. The container can be big or small and might contain many things, including a small logbook and items like key chains, baseball cards and small toys.
Geocaching requires only three things: an Internet connection, a free account at www.geocaching.com and a hand-held Global Positioning System receiver.
People who have a GPS (available for around $100) can log on to the Web site and create a free account. This allows them access to an online listing of every geocache and its coordinates. It also allows them to keep a log of which ones they have found. The Web site tracks this data and keeps an ongoing total for each user. With an account, anyone can start finding caches.
