Why Live in St. Malo?

Manitoba Canada

There is something about a small-town environment that makes friendships much deeper and stronger than the fast paced life of the cold and bitter city could ever offer. Maybe it's that families in St. Malo bring up their children in a more conservative place, where people don't need to be fearful of horrible crime and where trust is strong. Maybe it's that without all the clutter and busyness of the city, people have more time for each other. I'm sure it's both these reasons and many more. But there's something about St. Malo that makes it much, much different from other places- it has a uniqueness that cannot be overlooked. St. Malo is a place where neighbors are there for each other, where strangers smile as they walk by, where people are laid-back and not up-tight and demanding. It's a place where friendliness is something that is not at all hard to come by, where society as a whole is moral. It's a close-knit community, a treasure that can't be found elsewhere.

St. Malo is a town where people have their own identities, where people are seen as real people and known by their names (often nick names) and not by "that man" or "that girl" or "you over there."  Here people have shared struggles and good times together. We are a community that remembered the funny outfit you wore in third grade. But even if the people of this town know each other a little too well sometimes, it is a place where people care about each other.

It doesn't matter how much money people have, or where they come from, it is who the person is that the community cares about. News, good or bad, spreads like wild fire in the town. This is not a place where people keep to themselves and go about their business in a cold, practical way. It is a place where people have pulled together, have shared losses and wins, and have created our heritage. St. Malo is our home which we adore.
