2009 St. Malo & District Volunteer of the Year Presentation:
This year’s volunteer of the year is a remarkable person who has given an enormous amount of time to this community. She is known for her enthusiasm, her energy, her joie de vivre and last but not least, her dedication to this community.
Always trying to build bridges, our volunteer of the year, linked the students of the St. Malo School with the residents of the Chalet Malouin and the disabled and the mentally challenged at the Red River Workshop (EPIC), by having the students from the school perform mini-concerts for these groups.
Our volunteer of the year also spent many hours working with the residents of the Chalet Malouin. She founded the seniors choir DOMISOL at the Chalet Malouin and on a weekly basis went to the Chalet to lead the exercise program for the residents. She would always provide each class member with a massage following each exercise class, and this all on her own time.
Along with her follow committee members, she attends meetings and conferences, makes phone calls, looks for donations, prepares grant applications and prepares the cultural events for the community.
Over the years, she has volunteered her time at the church - be it as a reader, singer or an organist for the choir. Récemment, elle a donné de son temps pour participer au spectacle du banquet du 125e de la Municipalité de De Salaberry.
This gives you but a brief description of some of the work that our volunteer of the year has done over the years.
Our volunteer was nominated by her daughter-in-law, Kathy Marion and I would be remiss in not adding the concluding words included in the nomination form and I quote. “She is an incredible woman who works for our community, our youth, our seniors and our citizens with disabilities. She knows that the future depends on our youth and she is definitely investing her time in them.”

The St. Malo & District Chamber of Commerce unveilled their new logo on Saturday December 6, 2008. A Wine and Cheese was held to commemorate this event as well as recognize and thank their valued Chamber Members. Without their support, the chamber could not exist.
The new logo represents the 4 great seasons in the St. Malo & District region. The logo was designed locally by Roxanne Trudel. Chamber members are welcome to use the new logo on their letterheads, websites and advertisements. Non-chamber members will require authorization from the board of directors prior to using the logo.
I would like to thank all the current board members of the Chamber of Commerce and all the past volunteers who have helped to make this Chamber a strong and active participant of the community. I know that time is a luxury that we do not have a lot of and taking the time out of your busy schedules to make this chamber strong is a commitment I know you all do not take lightly. By working in partnership and enhancing the strengths of our community, we can continue to make this Chamber a strong presence in the our community.
